GM’s premium brand, Buick is going to launch its largest SUV as
the fully redesigned 2018 Buick Enclave. This three-row SUV
with seating capacity for up to eight should make the debut at
the upcoming New York Auto Show. The new-gen model comes after
a long generation lifespan of nine years and should improve

New for 2018:
A fully redesigned Buick Enclave should arrive on the new
platform and with sleeker styling. The model should also get
the latest technology and safety features like the new
Traverse. Engine options should include the new V-6 engine and
possibly turbocharged four-cylinder unit.
2018 Buick Enclave: New Platform and Design
The new generation 2018 Buick Enclave, like the redesigned
Chevy Traverse, should ride on GM’s C1XX platform. This
platform is stretched version of the platform which is also
found on the 2017 GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5. The new platform
should make the new Enclave lighter thanks to its modern,
lightweight structure but Buick hasn’t revealed how much this
model would be lighter or would change its proportions.
Similarly, Buick also hides details about model’s new look but
the new Enclave should feature brand’s styling that was
previewed on the Avenir concept model in 2015. Thanks to the
new design language, the new-gen Enclave should look sleeker
and more muscular. The model will adopt the new waterfall
grille design with the tri-shield emblem in the middle which
sits on the full-size winged strip. The model will get new LED
headlights and tweaked front bumper.
On the other hand, the Enclave should also feature crisper
lines and shapes. The model will also have refreshed rear end
design with the new, smaller taillights and dual exhaust
Interior of the model is still a mystery but it should be
similarly styled as the smaller Envision and Encore. The model
will have the attractive dash with driver-focused center stack
and refreshed instrument panel.
The latest infotainment system will also be available with
upgraded safety equipment like in the new Traverse. More
details about model’s trim options and features will be
available after its debut at the New York Auto Show.
2018 Buick Enclave: Engine Options
On the performance front, the new 2018 Buick Enclave should get
the same engine options as the new Traverse. The new 3.6-liter
V-6 engine should replace the current V-6 which produces 288 hp
and torque. As the reference, the new V-6 in the Traverse model
can deliver 305 hp and torque of 260 lb-ft.
On the other hand, the new-gen Enclave could also offer the
2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as an alternative
to the currently only available V-6 engine. This engine, if
would be available should produce around 255 hp like the
variant in the Chevy Traverse.
Engines will work in combination with the new 9-speed automatic
transmission which should replace the six-speed unit.
Front-wheel drive will be standard and all-wheel drive
Fuel economy should improve from the current 18 mpg combined
thanks to the lighter platform and new powertrains.
