2018 Ford Edge: Facelift, Changes, Price

Roomy and nicely detailed interior, modern tech and luxury
features plus smooth ride and strong performance range of
engines are qualities which Ford Edge offers. This model was
fully redesigned for the 2015 model year. For the 2016 model
year Ford replaced MyFord Touch infotainment system with the
Sync 3 version while the 2017 model added the cold-weather
package. The 2018 Ford Edge, on the other hand, should
experience the mid-cycle update.

New for 2018:

An updated 2018 Edge should wear freshened styling inside and
out. The tech and safety upgrades are also certain. On the
other side, a new 9-speed transmission should replace the
six-speed unit bringing also the fuel economy improvement.

2018 Ford Edge: Styling

The current generation of the Ford Edge shares the riding gear
with the Ford Fusion and styling similarities are also obvious.
However, some design cues also draw inspiration from the BMW
and Hyundai design languages and that can be detected on
model’s grille and shoulder line styling.

As for the 2018 Ford Edge version, this model won’t deviate
much from the current design. Like every facelift, this will
also bring some changes in model’s front and rear fascias.
Tweaked grille, headlights and bumpers should also be combined
with new wheel designs and color options. Each trim will also
add a unique touch by combining more bright-work and specific

The Sport trim will add 21-inch wheels while the base models
will ride on the 18-inch alloys. Available will also 19- and
20-inch options.

Interior, Features:

On the interior side, this model will also see some adjustments
but design won’t change. Freshened materials with upgraded tech
and safety features will be available across the trim options.
The model will incorporate the Sync3 infotainment system but
the center screen might grow in some versions from the current

The Edge will also be well-equipped in all variants. The
leather upholstery will be available in all trims except the
base one either as an option or standard. The model will also
get advanced safety gear like the lane departure warning and
prevention, blind-spot monitoring with the rear cross-traffic
alert, forward collision warning, etc.

2018 Ford Edge: Performance, Fuel economy

In the engine department, the 2018 Ford Edge will likely
include the same engine choices but some improvements are
expected. The model will likely replace the six-speed
transmission with the transmission system with the nine gears
which should bring some performance and fuel economy

The base Edge version will get power from the 2.0-liter
turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This power mill will produce
around 245 hp. A non-turbocharged V-6 should again be available
with the capacity of around 280 hp.

The Sport version will get all-wheel drive system combined with
the 2.7-liter turbo V-6 which can produce 315 hp and torque of
around 350 lb-ft. The front-wheel drive will be standard on the
base and other models while all-wheel drive will come at extra

As for the fuel economy, the new transmission should bring some
improvements but details are still unavailable.
