The Kodiaq is Skoda’s first and successful foray into the world
of the mid-size SUVs. The model debuted at the 2016 Paris Motor
Show while the Vision C Concept previewed the production
version at 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The Kodiaq shares the version of the underpinning found under
the VW Tiguan and Seat Ateca. The model is available in five-
and seven-seat configurations and with front- and four-wheel
drive. The petrol and diesel engines power this modern SUV and
it delivers a comfortable ride and precise handling. The
practical cabin is also the value of this model but this model
is also more reasonably priced seven-seat SUV.
The 2018 Skoda Kodiaq expands the lineup with two new versions.
The Scout and Sportline versions debuted at the last Geneva
Auto Show. Skoda also adds a new diesel option.
2018 Skoda Kodiaq: Design
The 2018 Skoda Kodiaq is based on VW MQB platform which also
makes the foundation of the new Tiguan version. However, Skoda
is bigger than the Tiguan and has 184.9 inches in length, 74.1
inches in width and height is 66.0 inches. The model rides on
the 109.9-inch wheelbase.
Visually, the model obviously blends the styling cues from VW’s
new SUVs with Skoda’s signature elements. The brand’s grille
dominates on the front section combined with modern headlights
and sleek front bumper. The hood has middle bulge matching the
grille design and pronounced beltline improves the profile
On the other hand, the Scout version has off-road inspired
styling and equipment. The version has improved ground
clearance and front and rear underbody protection. The unique
bumper trim, silver mirror caps and badging also makes the
difference. The model also comes with standard AWD.
The Sportline as the name suggests adds sportier flourishes and
some interior upgrades. The exterior features some parts
finished in black and unique big alloys. Inside, the Sportline

The interior of the Kodiaq is practical and nicely styled. The
five and seven-passenger configurations are available. The
middle-row is comfortable and flexible while the third row is
adequate for small kids.
The model has modern dash which design is similar to VW models.
The Kodiaq has modern infotainment system with Apple Car Play
and Android Auto support. The new model will also include
9.2-inch display unit with the gesture control capability.
Skoda also offers leather/suede seats, ambient lighting,
electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, etc.
Upgrades include adjustable dampers, hands-free tailgate,
three-zone climate control, full leather seating, power and
heated front row, premium sound system, etc.
Available are also advanced safety systems like the adaptive
cruise control, automatic emergency braking, surround view
system, blind-spot monitoring, lane assist, etc.
2018 Skoda Kodiaq: Powertrains
Deepening on the market the 2018 Skoda Kodiaq will be available
with several engine options. The only engine available in
Australia was a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol producing 132
kW(180hp) and torque of 320 Nm. The Scout version will also be
available with the 140TDI engine making 140 kW(190 hp). Some
markets will also offer a 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 110
kW( 150hp). Other options will include a 1.4-liter TSI
available in two variants 125 hp and 150 hp.
In the combination with these engines, Skoda will offer a
manual or DSG automatic transmissions. The front- and
four-wheel drive will also be available to choose from.
