2019 Maserati Levante: Changes, GTS and Hybrid versions

The Maserati Levante is beautiful mid-size crossover SUV
equipped with the potent turbocharged V-6 engines and
sport-oriented suspension. Italian carmaker offers this model
in two configurations in the US, the base and S while in other
markets buyers can get the diesel version as well. However,
Maserati will likely broad the range of configurations with the
arrival of the 2019 Maserati Levante. A more aggressive and
powered by the twin-turbo V-8 engine, the GTS-badged version
was spotted while testing and it should arrive for the 2019
model year while some sources also expected it as the 2018
version. However, the Levante plug-in hybrid is also expected
to join the lineup with the similar powertrain as in the
Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

2019 Maserati Levante: Powertrains

The current Levante comes in the base and S configuration which
both get power from the 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo engine. In the
base form, this engine produces 345 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
In the next level of tune, this engine provides 424 hp and
torque of 428 lb-ft. Engines come in the combination with the
8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
The Levante S sprints to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and fuel economy
is around 16 mpg combined. These engines will likely return in
the same form for the 2019 version.

However, the difference will make the new 2019 Maserati Levante
version with GTS badge. This version should get a 3.8-liter
twin-turbo V-8 engine from the Quattroporte GTS. This engine
produces 523 hp and torque of 479 lb-ft in that model but
Levante will likely get more ponies in order to compete with
the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The model will also
receive some chassis tuning and braking and suspension

As for the plug-in hybrid version, it should have the similar
powertrain as the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan. This
powertrain includes a 3.6-liter V-6 engine combined with the
dual electric motors and the CVT. The battery is a 16-kWh
lithium-ion unit which provides 30 miles of the all-electric
range. A similar performance this setup should deliver in the
Levante version.

2019 Maserati Levante: Design

As for the looks of the 2019 Maserati Levante, the model will
arrive in pretty much the same form as in the two current
variants. The new GTS version won’t also differ much from the
current versions. The subtle changes will be seen on models
front end. More aggressive bumpers, unique wheels, trim details
and badging will make this version unique among others but of
course, the substantial difference will be under the hood. The
plug-in version will also share the similar styling with few
unique details.

Interior of the new models will share the same layout as the
current versions. The difference will be in the upholstery and
color combinations while the GTS will also feature sportier
cues. On the other hand, models will receive the latest
infotainment features and an array of the driver assistance

2019 Maserati Levante: Arrival, Price

The arrival of the 2019 Maserati Levante is expected in late
2018. The price should again start form around $72, 500. The
GTS version will go far above the current S version that solds
for $83, 800.
