The number of new SUV models is growing rapidly and Spanish
automaker SEAT also has plans to expand its range of utility
models. After the huge success of brand’s first SUV the Ateca,
Seat recently added a new smaller offering, the Arona
subcompact crossover. This Seat’s small hatchback Ibiza based
model goes against rivals such as the Nissan Juke, Suzuki
Vitara, Renault Captur, etc. With these two models in its
portfolio, Seat is now missing a larger SUV model which targets
larger families and rivals like the Kia Sorrento, Mazda CX-5,
Hyundai Santa Fe, Skoda Kodiaq, etc. However, that is going to
change in the near future as Seat is planning to offer its
third and largest SUV version probably marketed as the 2019
Seat hasn’t confirmed the name of its upcoming model and
details about model’s design and mechanics are also scarce.
However, the Alora should actually be a Spanish version of the
popular Kodiaq SUV. Two models should share the platform,
engine lineup and kay technology. Seat will of course design
model’s exterior and interior according to brand’s design
2019 Seat Alora: Design
When it comes to the design of the 2019 Seat Alora, the model
will borrow the platform from sister’s brand’s Skoda which
actually uses VW’s underpinning. We are speaking about the
Kodiaq three-row SUV and the version of VW’s MQB platform.
Brand’s new Arona also uses a small version of the MQB
platform, coded MQB A0. Underpinning the Alora will be a larger
platform version, similar as on the Kodiaq but Seat’s version
should have slightly smaller measures than Skoda’s model.
Visually, Alora should have similar styling elements as brand’s
other two SUV models. Brand’s familiar grille shape will be
combined with the LED-accentuated headlights and sculpted hood.
The profile will likely look similar to Kodiaq’s while the rear
will bear similar taillights and bumper design as Seat’s newest
Interior of the model should share a similar design and brand’s
other SUVs. Seat will offer five- and seven-seat
configurations. We should also expect familiar dashboard layout
with slim air vents and 8-inch touchscreen interface.
Technical features will include Apple Car Play and Android Auto
and driver assistant systems like adaptive cruise control,
automatic lights, camera systems, etc.
2019 Seat Alora: Powertrains
As for the engine options, the 2019 Seat Alora should mimic the
range of options offered with the Skoda Kodiaq. So, the range
of petrol engines should include 1.4- and 2.0-liter options
with different outputs depending on the market. 2.0-liter
diesel will also be on the offer.
Buyers will also choose between the front-wheel drive and more
capable all-wheel drive. The manual and automatic gearboxes
will also be offered.
2019 Seat Alora: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Seat Alora will debut sometime in the second half of
2018. As for the price, Seat is the budget-focused brand but
the new, largest SUV will push price upward. Expect the
entry-level version around £22,000. Richer equipped versions
will cost above £30,000.
