Volvo when designing the latest model 2019 Volvo XC40 is
remained true to designer studios, with minor modifications
that have been made for practical and economic reasons. In the
previous model, the outer hinges were hidden in the door, while
on the serial model – conventional.
The XC40 was housed in a category that overtaken the so-called
Golf Class by popularity in Europe. The XC40 is the smallest
crossover that Volvo has in its offer and logically resembles
larger brothers, models XC60 and XC90. This can be concluded by
the very attractive LEDs front and rear. The new 2019 Volvo
XC40 is the first model built on the new Volvo Modular
Platform. It will soon be used for their electric models.
2019 Volvo XC40 – Exterior Body Changes and Interior Cabin
At first glance, it is clear that this is a Volvo model because
the designer’s solution, celebrated by the company, is still
present. And this is a massive square mask of the refrigerator.
In order to meet customers who, want their car to look more
attractive, Volvo has offered 17 two-color combinations of body
and roof. As well as large alloy wheels, available in many
The stylish elements of the exterior are mostly taken from the
latest generation of Volvo models, and a similar design
language is applied in the cabin. It is understandably modest
in appearance compared to larger SUVs, XC60 and XC90. As
already known, the 2019 Volvo XC40 is mounted on a new modular
mechanical platform, called the CMA. This platform is also
intended for other compact Volvo 40 family models, which will
be presented in the coming years, and supports versions with
electric motors, or plug-in hybrid systems.
Except for the outside, the similarity is very noticeable in
the interior of the cabin. The two screens dominate the space
in front of the driver. At the site of the analog clock for
speed and revolutions, there is a large 12.3-inch screen, while
the center-mounted 9-inch vertical display is located in the
center. Both screens are very nicely embedded in the interior,
which can be boasted with high finishing.
And there’s space for even 13 “Harman Kardon” speakers. All
this is expected because it is a luxury brand. When we agree on
the interior, it should be noted that the 2019 Volvo XC40 has a
large space for storing different things, as well as several
very practical folding hooks to which the bag or bags from the
store can be hooked. Between the front seats there was a place
for a small waste bin.
Safety, as one of the main features of this brand, is at the
highest level in serial equipment. In addition to numerous
systems of active and passive safety, the XC40 boasts an
advanced auto-pilot, a system for preventing unplanned downhill
travel, and a very useful assistant for extraction. Volvo says
that this is one of the safest cars on the market. But let’s
wait to see what official safety tests will say.
2019 Volvo XC40 – Modifications in the Engine
In the traditional spirit of safety, the small Volvo XC40 is
equipped with its own force of patented security systems, seen
in more expensive, larger models. Motorization is very
colorful, from petrol and diesel to hybrid and fully electric
models. Of course, conventional motors of 150 hp to 250 hp in
gasoline versions and 150 hp to 190 hp in diesel versions came
first. Depending on the engine selection, all-wheel drive is
Motorization for the European market includes five drive units.
The basic version of the 2019 Volvo XC40 drives a T3 petrol
engine with 156 hp. A slightly stronger T4 has 190 hp, while
the top of the gas offer is the T5 with 247 hp. Diesel engines
are D3 with 150 horsepower and a D4 that delivers 190 hp. The
choice of drive systems will be completed later by some other
aggregates, including a plug-in hybrid version, but also a pure
